# 17. Views A view, `scienting-view/1`, is a Vega-Lite specification whose `usermeta.scienting` pins its data: `{format, id, data, computation?}`. Each entry of `data` names a Vega-Lite data source, the dataset it is, the dataset's content hash and a resource, and the specification refers to it as `{"data": {"name": …}}`. A view is declarative JSON, so it is diffable, renders without studio code, and is easy for a model to write. A view can also hold a computation: a Lode claim's implementation, by claim and pin, run in the browser by Pyodide, with Vega-Lite parameters bound to its inputs. That is how a reader drags a bond constant and watches the energy curve change beside the equation that defines it.
